Adventure is in everything I do and everywhere I go. I’d dare to say that adventure is a mindset.
According to the Oxford Language dictionary, Adventure – is an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experience or activity.
Every day I strive to push my boundaries, strive into the unknown, be daring, take risks, and be hazardous. As far as we know, we only have one shot at this thing called life. Being adventurous should be the status quo, but I still work to keep my security as well.
Nonetheless, security is subjective as well. Security from my perspective lies in the safety of my family. So as I take on daily risks that can typically be hazardous, it does not mean I don’t go in prepared. Can one not be adventurous and safe at the same time?
I came across a quote recently, “Be a warrior not a worrier.” It was profound to me as well as personal since I have served in the military. During my time I completed a tour overseas in Afghanistan. Definitely an unusual and exciting, definitely hazardous, experience. It was absolutely exhilirating. The exhiliration came from my mindset, I couldve worried about being harmed or hurt, not seeing my family, all the work I had to do, but where would that have gotten me. So I looked to it as an adventure.
With my deployment I prepared for the adventure safely. No one can predict what the next day will bring, but the best anyone can do is prepare for what they know, and not worry about what they don’t.
This is the same efforts I place into my life, daily tasks, routines, and obstacles. I have the mindset that its an adventure and I prepare for them safely, which in turn provides me the security I need to move forward.
I don’t necessarily see security in money or materials. Neither can they provide the true joy one can get from taking on an experience or activity that is unusual and exciting. As long as my family is safe and healthy. I enjoy the security in my day to day adventures.
Peace and blessings. Always Anima.
